Imagine a 20 year old, young and passionate youth advocate in Los Angeles who gave his heart and soul to his work trying to improve educational inequities for youth. He worked long days, got little rest, ate poorly and never really focused on his health because all that mattered was contributing to the cause of positive social change. After 3 years he found himself burned out, tired all the time and 70 pounds overweight and his doctor just told him his heart was getting weaker with the onset of high blood pressure and hypertension. At 23, he finally realized that improving his health had to be a priority if he wanted to continue contributing to social change. Four years later he finally learned how to do this and now hopes to help empower others to do the same.

When I began this journey towards better health and fitness four years ago, I never knew how difficult the trials would be, nor how long the journey would take. All I knew was that I wanted to improve my health and live better for the long term so that I could be more capable of improving the world. I can’t even tell you how many methods I tried, or how many work out plans, diets and programs I set up. I realized that there was a lot of misinformation out there, but fortunately I found a few things that worked for me and I kept with it. Over these past few years I’ve learned a couple things about health and fitness and I wanted to share it. But I didn’t just want to share it with just anyone, I wanted to share it with my family, my friends, and remarkable people in my life who were dedicated to changing the world one step or one mountain at a time. My wish was that if they could empower themselves to find their own pathway towards better health then they could live stronger and fight harder to make the world a better place.
Here at movemo we’ve established a team that is dedicated to this mission and everyday we’re trying to find new ways to help you filter through the misinformation, find health and fitness knowledge that is time-tested, evidence based, useful and sustainable. Our commitment at movemo is a deeply personal one, and we won’t stop researching, educating and innovating in health and fitness for you as long as you continue to make a difference.
If you have some feedback, more ideas or questions on how movemo can help empower you to better health, I’d love to hear from you at matthew@movemofitness.com or send us a comment on facebook.
