Recipe: Simple Fresh Tomato Salsa

A simple tomato salsa is one of those recipes everyone should have up their sleeve when you want to add big flavor with little effort and few ingredients. It’s all too easy to just grab a jar of pre made salsa from the grocery store, but trust us, you won’t regret investing just a bit of extra time to whip up some fresh salsa for the rest of the week.

Salsa is adaptable to your taste, very forgiving, and can go from sweet to spicy to sour just by adding a few ingredients. Want something sweeter? Add some fruits like mango or pineapple instead of tomatoes, or add some jalapenos or habaneros for a spicy version of this trusty recipe. Either way it’s dead simple to make a very good tomato salsa, here’s the basic recipe we often use.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium tomatoes or 4 canned whole tomatoes
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 red or white onion
  • Cilantro
  • Juice of 1/2 lime
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. In a bowl add diced the tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped onion and cilantro
  2. Add lime and mix.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste
